Understand EV and Drive Away in the 2014 Kia Soul EV

EVs are taking over the market. It seems that every automaker is coming out with their own electric powered machine; everywhere we turn there is another model saving on fuel and reducing its emissions.  However, with all the hype over the new models, there is still great hesitation.  How much do we really know about EVs?

We at Dyer Kia want to help you understand, especially with the highly-anticipated release of the 2015 Kia Soul EV. Here are the facts:

  • There are multiple locations that the EV can be charged: at home, work or on the road. With 63,000 stations being sold to workplaces by 2020 and close to 9,00 public charging stations available as of 2014, you should never worry about your car losing its charge on the road.
  • Most daily commutes are less than 1/2 the range of most EVs. An estimated 24 miles is the daily commute of a vehicle, while the driving range for EVs before charging is 76-103 miles.
  • EVs have many benefits like: reduced fuel spending, low maintenance (no oil changes, less mechanical parts), eco-friendly and in some cases, even gets you a reserved parking spot.

Perhaps EV isn't as scary as we once thought; perhaps we are ready to get behind the wheel of the Kia Soul EV when it hits the market. In the meantime, get used to the current Soul model by test driving the 2014 Kia Soul  at our Evans location today.
